Save beautiful pictures for yourself and give them to your mothers, please them with warm words of love and appreciation! But while you are choosing postcards, we will briefly recall the history of the holiday.
Mother’s Day celebration in the world
Mother’s Day is an unofficial holiday, however, for every state, this day has a great symbolic meaning. The image of a mother is the embodiment of the protection and spiritual education of her children. Thanks to her, they know about their origin and national heritage. It is from the mother that conscious love for the motherland begins. Therefore, every year, on the second Sunday of May, we honor our mothers.
For the first time, Mother’s Day was talked about in America at the beginning of the 19th century. A little later, after the First World War, most European countries joined the celebration. Great Britain has long celebrated this event in its own way. In the last week of Lent, they honored Mothering Sunday – the day of all mothers in the country.
In 1928, the Ukrainian community in Canada celebrated its first Mother’s Day. A year later, the holiday came to Lviv and became popular in the western regions of the country. At this time, public organizations organized concerts and festivals for everyone. However, the Soviet authorities considered it necessary to ban the holiday, despite its universal support. Mother’s Day has returned to independent Ukraine, and since then, every year, we delight mothers with touching words of gratitude.
